Not only is it incredibly delicious, but it’s also packed with all the good stuff to support your body and help ease PCOS/PMOS symptoms using the wisdom of TCM dietary therapy. 

Note: PCOS was recently renamed as polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS).

Easy PCOS/PMOS Recipe

Made with the natural goodness of sweet purple potatoes and a mix of wholesome ancient grains, this porridge is a game-changer. Sweet purple potatoes are not just tasty; they’re a powerhouse of nutrients. They bring a lovely naturally sweet flavor and are rich in fiber, which is excellent for digestion. And let’s not forget about the ancient grains – they’re loaded with protein and B vitamins, giving you that much-needed energy boost and natural hormonal balance support.

What makes this porridge extra special is how it supports your digestive health. A healthy Spleen organ system (which is in charge of digestion from a TCM POV) is key with PCOS/PMOS, and this recipe is designed to do just that. Plus, for anyone keeping an eye on their blood sugar and cholesterol levels, this meal is a true ally, it’s got everything to help keep those levels in check.

Sweet Purple Potato Ancient Grain Porridge for PCOS/PMOS Support

Recipe (4 servings):

  • â…“ cup buckwheat groats
  • â…“ cup multigrain mix or quinoa
  • â…“ cup foxtail millet
  • 1 tablespoon flax seed powder
  • 5 cups soy milk
  • Water as needed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons tahini
  • 6 jujube dates or medjool dates, chopped
  • 1 cup cooked and mashed sweet purple potato
  • 3-6 squeezes of Elix Cycle Balance or Daily Harmony

Method:

  • Begin by soaking all the grains in water overnight.
  • The next day, in a medium-sized pot, cook the grains in soy milk over medium-low heat with the lid covered until the grains are soft, about 30 minutes. Make sure to stir constantly to prevent burning. 
  • Add cinnamon, tahini, dates, and purple potato. Stir and mix well. Cook for an additional 15 minutes. You may need to add more water. 
  • When everything is soft and to your taste, squeeze in your favorite Elix herbal formula, like Cycle Balance or Daily Harmony, for an extra wellness kick. Mix well and enjoy!
  • Remember, you can store any leftover porridge in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
